Sweet liqueur on a stunning evening with friends? Baileys is the most popular Irish cream liqueur. With my recipe, you can easily recreate coffee cream liqueur in a vegan version. And the best part: vegan Baileys tastes exactly like the original!

Homemade Vegan Baileys – The Best Baileys
My Baileys recipe is proof that indulgence and a plant-based diet can go hand in hand. In this recipe, I take the iconic creamy liqueur we all know and give it a completely authentic, plant-based makeover. Smooth vegan cream meets the coffee flavour typical of Irish cream liqueur. Full-bodied and indulgent, just like the original!

Homemade, vegan Baileys is a delight at many gatherings
After all, no one wants to miss out on an illustrious gathering, whether with beloved friends or grandma and grandpa. And hardly anyone can resist a delicious, creamy vegan coffee liqueur and delicious, homemade Baileys.

Drink Variations and Desserts with Baileys
Cream liqueur is one of those drinks that is just as enchanting on its own as it is in creative variations. So, not only can you drink it neat, but you can also use it to create tempting drinks. It transforms coffee into a luxurious hot drinks, hot chocolate into a velvety treat, and cakes and desserts into true masterpieces.

Vegan Baileys makes a great gift from the kitchen
A bottle of homemade cream liqueur also makes a great little souvenir, a delicious, creamy gift from the kitchen. I also love giving my homemade Baileys as a Christmas present or bringing it to New Year’s Eve parties.

Should I make my own Baileys with vodka or whiskey?
If you use whiskey, you’re essentially making an authentic Baileys. However, the coffee, cocoa, and cream flavors overpower the whiskey flavour so much that, surprisingly, you can barely taste any difference from a vodka-based Baileys. And since vodka is significantly cheaper, I always use vodka for my homemade cream liqueur.

Vegan Baileys – How to Make It in Pictures
Here, I’ll show you step-by-step photos of how to make your own vegan coffee cream liqueur. Then, I’ll move on to the recipe.

Ingredients for approximately 750 ml Baileys:
500 ml vegan cream (not whippable)
200 g sugar
2 heaped teaspoons vanilla sugar
2 heaped teaspoons instant coffee (instant coffee powder, for hot water)
1 heaped teaspoon cocoa powder
250 ml whiskey or vodka
Preparation:
- Pour the vodka into a bowl and whisk in the cocoa powder.
- Then add all the other ingredients and mix well. If very small cocoa or coffee crumbs remain, don’t worry; they will dissolve on their own later.
- Pour the Baileys into a bottle using a funnel and seal it tightly.
- Let it steep in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight, and the Baileys is ready.
- Homemade vegan Baileys will keep for several weeks or months in the refrigerator. This means you can easily prepare my Baileys, give it as a gift, bring it with you, or make it in advance.
Note: With whipped, vegan cream, stiff foam sometimes forms in the neck of the bottle. If your Baileys doesn’t want to pour out of the bottle, it helps to shake it vigorously or let it warm to room temperature. However, it’s generally recommended to use non-whipping, vegan cream for cream liqueur.
Enjoy your vegan coffee cream liqueur!
